Two years ago I just about got it right - we ran out in April (ish), but then again we bought the tomatoes from a local organic farmer at a fantastic price. Last year we grew our own and vastly underestimated how many plants we needed. Lets see if I can get it right this year!mamarabyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05474499494009129003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-63802439558153958812009-04-02T08:12:00.000-05:002009-04-02T08:12:00.000-05:00Ah tomatoes. I'm trying a different location this year, hopefully it works better.Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16685887988265673434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-13652227529410834552009-04-02T08:02:00.000-05:002009-04-02T08:02:00.000-05:00Localzone- I usually do just a few quarts of whol...Localzone- I usually do just a few quarts of whole tomatoes and about 15 pints of diced tomatoes that I use in recipes. The rest get thrown together and cooked down for sauce which is what we use the most.
Kris- Yikes- 15 plants each! I thought I was pushing it with 6 plants each of 4 varieties of paste and 4 each of 'other'. you're ambitious.
JudyJudy Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121300109427407095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-17363453593044062792009-04-02T07:50:00.000-05:002009-04-02T07:50:00.000-05:00Last year I think I did 3 different paste tomatoes...Last year I think I did 3 different paste tomatoes - 15 plants each and we are TOTALLY out of everything I canned. What a bummer. So I guess this year I will be doing more.....
KrisQuiltedSimplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17125600585948205404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-18152184410845386472009-04-02T05:59:00.000-05:002009-04-02T05:59:00.000-05:00That's some serious canning, especially as tomatoe...That's some serious canning, especially as tomatoes cook down a lot. Do you can each variety separately or also do some mixtures?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
