I know the water quality is much, much better in a deeper aquifer (200+ feet deep) but it is really costly to drill that deep. Hopefully our shallow well (most likely ground water filled) will keep up.Judy Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121300109427407095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-47859024059381356302012-06-17T21:22:41.005-05:002012-06-17T21:22:41.005-05:00I saw a paper around here somewhere that stated ou...I saw a paper around here somewhere that stated our well was around 25 ft deep LOL, can you imagine? I grew up where the wells were deep, deep! Today we were digging post holes and at the 3.5 ft mark we have to stop for sure since we are afraid to hit the water table LOLErinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-7323821588398223672012-06-17T18:05:12.237-05:002012-06-17T18:05:12.237-05:00LOL! (Silly me, I'm sure it's at home because you can never walk away from it!) At any rate, you seem to never stop. There are a lot of women who wouldn't even contemplate the gardening, canning and preserving you do because "they don't have time." Throw in the extra work at home of remodeling (on top of all the regular stuff you have to do to keep the home running smoothly) and I wanna know what you're on so I can get some too and have as much energy as you do! ;o)Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-20798042430578094322012-06-17T12:01:45.208-05:002012-06-17T12:01:45.208-05:00Thanks Cheryl! When I water bath can (the bulk of what I do) I usually just add a little vinegar into the canner water and it prevents the lime deposits on the jars. We use the rust remover salt in the softener and it seems to take care of most of the rust stains. But with it being so dry it seems to be worse this spring than it has been in the few years we've been here.
Thanks for stopping by again!
JudyJudy Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121300109427407095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-91605844848956668472012-06-17T09:47:18.876-05:002012-06-17T09:47:18.876-05:00That's the only way I make jelly and jams as w...That's the only way I make jelly and jams as well. It works great for that.

My brother has a well, and when doing his canning - he uses gal. jugs of distilled water. He gets a much better seal and none of the calcium and iron build up. Thought that might help you.

Your jam sounds delightful.

Cheryl in INAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-18615451546724630482012-06-17T00:59:54.198-05:002012-06-17T00:59:54.198-05:00True- plus it tastes great!True- plus it tastes great!Judy Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121300109427407095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-69297828168928076392012-06-17T00:55:11.094-05:002012-06-17T00:55:11.094-05:00I only use the flip the jar thing on jam and jelly...I only use the flip the jar thing on jam and jelly. I would NEVER, EVER use it on anything else. I think the high sugar content is what makes is work since the sugar itself acts as a preservative. I'll amend my post to make that clear.Judy Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01121300109427407095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-63312225654484841042012-06-16T23:38:55.269-05:002012-06-16T23:38:55.269-05:00I forgot, kiwi also has a LOT more vitamin c, a bo...I forgot, kiwi also has a LOT more vitamin c, a bonus!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00576053785355324560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1412316033303635508.post-85446141845080963552012-06-16T23:36:09.399-05:002012-06-16T23:36:09.399-05:00Thanks for posting your recipe! I might try your version, many work fine like that....Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00576053785355324560noreply@blogger.com
