I guess the drought is over here

It has rained.  And it has rained some more.  And yet still more!  We were officially out of drought conditions a week or so ago but today has definitely put us over the edge.  I do wish I had deployed my rain gauge already because I'm guessing that we're at about 3 inches so far.
I was at work, but V took some amazing photos this morning right after a particularly heavy downpour.
Our little, foot wide, a few inches deep creek has taken over the valley!  Some of the water near the road is probably at least 3 feet deep.
Both bridges are underwater... well, one is mired in debris and the other has floated downstream again. At least V had the presence of mind this morning to go tie it to a tree with a rope so we don't have to track it 3/4 of a mile downstream like we've done in the past.  And I can see that my running path is probably a bit squishy.
Even getting home was an adventure.  There was water lapping at the edge of the highway not far to the South of us, where it crosses Rapid Creek.  There were acres and acres of land underwater.
It is supposed to keep raining for the next few days.  Well, there goes my hope of getting any garden in any time soon.  Oh well, I'll just have to content myself with my seedlings inside.

    1. Oh, I'd love to! We've been dry but we really didn't need 6+ inches in 48 hours

  5. We're getting it here too...standing water everywhere. I wasn't planning on putting any garden in any time soon, except potatoes. It is getting a little late for those, but it'll be alright...we're planting some of them in potato boxes the Irishman built with scavenged lumber he brought home from work. Let you know how that goes. There will still be a whole bed of them too. lol We had quite a fair amount of snow this year too, so I'm guessing we'll have a leg up, no matter what happens this summer.

    1. Yes, we are definitely out of the drought. We've had flooding and mudslides here, roads closed, etc. Of course, I don't have my rain barrels deployed yet since I don't want them to freeze. I'm sure that once I put them out it will dry up....

  6. We're lucky to be getting our much-needed moisture in snow form. Makes everything look like the dead of winter (Spring? Where's our spring?) but it's better for the ground than rain that tends to run off rather than soak in. Your bit of flooding will drain off fast and you'll be able to plant sooner than you think. (Fingers crossed.) If not, SEW!

    1. You can keep you snow, thank you very much. I'm not sure how soon it will dry out here. We got 6+ inches of rain in two days with more forecast for the next few days as well. Everything is throughly saturated.... except for inside the greenhouse where I'll have to water soon.

Oh, there is no end of my complaining!
