I'm going back to NOT allowing anonymous comments due to one obnoxious person who just won't let something drop and is becoming offensive to me.
It's my blog, my opinions. If you don't like it. don't visit- but please, don't argue with me.
I like to think I'm a pretty tolerant person but when people start spewing religious bigotry on my blog I won't tolerate it. I have no trouble with people challenging me, or to civil disagreements but sometimes the hatred gets too thick.
I'm sorry your going through this. I also won't tolerate that sort of nonsense on my blogs and why should we? I think those kind of posters hope to shut down dialog in actuality. Anyhow, your opinions were valid and well stated as always.
Thanks. I'm all for dialog but when people start getting hateful it's too much. I do try to look at things objectively and I'm pretty good at checking my facts.
Too true. My Mama always told me, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. There have been many, many times that I've moved on from a blog or post that I may disagree with, but who am I to contradict them on their own blog... unless they ask for opinions.
Wow, so many crazy people. I always wonder why those hate filled types don't just blog themselves instead of being so cowardly as to post anonymous comments on others' platforms.
Sad really...I cannot understand all the political hatred this country seems to have in current times (or possibly it is the norm, but it seems I'm more aware of it). Frankly, this hatred keeps us from solving many problems (just my 2c, but I'm in your choir!) Your opinions are well stated and valid and I woud feel the same even if mine differed greatly. The sadness is that we all have to go extra miles and miles to defend ourselves while being bashed by other Americans (assumption). It is strange someone would hide their opinions behind an "anonymous" screen if they truly feel their opinions are more valid than others. Don't let them scare you away from sharing your thoughts!!
I'm with you, I just can't understand how people can have such hatred for an entire class of people who they probably know nothing about. Really, I think people have more in common than different. And, yeah, I'm not understanding the anonymous thing either, I at least have the courage to identify who I am when I comment.
You go girl! I had to do the same as well as approving my comments before publication. Oy vay, people just don't know when to give up!

DeleteYou're right! It's your blog and unless you ask for others' opinions, it's not their place to disagree. Or argue. Or just generally be nincompoops.
ReplyDeleteLike I told Tiny Gardener, I don't mind disagreement but I don't tolerate hatred and that was definitely the vibe I was getting.

DeleteI am sorry. I love your blog and you need to do what is best for you. Good luck.

Thanks. Maybe someday I'll go back to allowing anonymous comments again. I mainly did it so my sister could comment.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they do blog but don't have the courage to put their name with their opinions here.
