Will it or won't it?

Snow, that is.  We are under a winter storm watch for tomorrow.  But what I don't understand is this:  They're predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow but they're also talking about temperatures in the mid to upper 40's. Um, explain to me how we're supposed to keep that much snow on the ground when it's that warm?

But, even though snow can make travel a pain, I'm ready for a good snow.  We haven't had a decent snow storm all winter and haven't been able to go sledding at all.  We'll see what happens.  It will do what it do. And they said we may get thundersnow.  How much fun would that be!!

  1. We're feeling the same way you are about some snow yet to come this winter. I say bring it on!!

  2. Yes bring it on! We are expected to have a good bit if snow tonight 2-4, that isn't lots but in is better than nothing. That is the last report I read. I might check tonight to see if it has changed. I like your forecast better. As for the warm temp, we had 42* today, this weather is nuts lol. We have had lots of strong winds to the past few days. Gusts to 65mph.

Thundersnow, I have never heard of that. Might be interesting to get it sometime. :)

Hope you get what you want. Stay warm. Take care, Janet W

  3. We have had no snow at all this winter, which is fine by me. On Friday, it's supposed to be 60 degrees! Yikes.

    1. I'm ready for some snow. I actually don't mind snow (maybe that's why we moved back to the midwest from Virginia)

  4. Judy - What is thundersnow? A thunderstorm which produces snow instead of rain? Or i it large flakes of snow which crash to the ground...? :)

    1. Dani- Thundersnow is a thunderstorm that produced snow. I've only been in two or three in my life but they are impressive. It tends to snow VERY heavily when they occur.

    1. No snow yet... but it looks like it's coming. But it looks like an awful lot of rain so I hope we don't get ice. I don't mind snow but I really, really don't like ice.

  6. Would all of you people PLEASE come take some of our snow?!? Seriously, we've been stuck in a 2-3 snowstorm per week cycle since the beginning of February, and I think we've either tied or set a new record for the snowiest February on record here in Denver! I wanna ride my bike and think about planting peas!!

    1. It is snowing now with really huge clumps of flakes- kind of like snowballs falling. Pretty impressive. But I think the ground is too warm for it to really stick. I'll be truly surprised if we get 4 inches.

  8. Just like here! A few inches then a sloppy wet mess since it doesn't stick LOL, I hope your temp drops enough!

    1. We didn't even get a few inches. It seems like most of the day it couldn't decide if it would rain or snow. even now it's still right around freezing.

    1. I know we need the rain but I miss snow. I don't think we've had over 6 inches of snow all winter and even then only little bits at a time. It has never snowed enough this year to fully cover the grass. Gah.

  10. We had snow ... for like 5 minutes. Gah! It needs to snow. Mark it down, Feb 23/2012 Jenn has finally lost her mind.. But we need snow.. I actually am craving it. I want to go sledding with my kids. I don't want it to be ridiculously cold, just snow..

    1. I KNOW! We haven't been able to go sledding at all this year either. And we haven't even had it that cold either. We haven't had temperatures below zero (-18C) all winter.

    2. Oh we had below zero. One week of -49C windchills was enough for me..

    3. Oh, yeah- that would be more than enough for me. We had -40 F a few years ago and people were upset that they cancelled school- of course, none of the buses would start....

    4. All schools were open here. Heck I even sent mine to school. But I'm mean like that.

Glad it didn't get that cold for you, and really it's pretty much March so in theory the "worst" should be over.. In theory..

Oh and I now know how you feel with seeds. I got my first ever shipment of seeds in the mail today and I was pretty giddy.. Weird ...
