Tagged! 4 things

Debbie at Happy Days tagged me for a meme. It's pretty simple so I'll play along. I like simple these days.
This one is 4 things. Here goes:
4 shows I watch- hmm, it starts out hard- I don't watch much TV. But if I had to list- most would be from Syfy- Sanctuary, Warehouse 13, Stargate Universe and then, not Syfy- Mythbusters
4 things I'm passionate about- My family, my job, my garden, the environment.
4 words or phrases I say a lot- "Fabulous!" "Oh Shit!"; "Curiouser and Curiouser, said Alice." and from work: "Talk to yourself like you'd talk to a friend."
4 things I've learned from the past- Never take anyone for granted; Always let people know you love them- they can't guess; Be true to yourself no matter what others think; Money doesn't buy happiness
4 places I'd like to go- the Agean, Great Britain, Australia, Venice
4 things I did yesterday- laundry, baked cookies, received a gift, sang
4 things I look forward to doing- sleeping in on Saturday; seeing my family for the holidays; going to the beach in North Carolina; watching my children open gifts
4 things I love about winter- sledding; warm scarves; hot chocolate; watching the birds at the feeders.
Now, I'm supposed to pass this on to 4 other bloggers. Here is where I part from tradition. I can never narrow it down to just 4 people, and many people don't want to play along. So, If you want to play, consider your self tagged! I'm curious about other's answers.

Taking care of business

I've been a bit preoccupied recently- not to mention really busy.  There is a bit of blog business that I'm behind on.  First, Sara at Mama Craft tagged me with the Happiness meme.
For this meme, you are to list 6 random things that make you happy.
1. Climbing into a warm bed on a cold night.
2. The smell of freshly dug dirt (can you tell I'm jonesing for the garden)
3. Saturday movie night with all 5 of us snuggling/crowding onto the couch together, eating locally grown popcorn.
4. Getting packages in the mail.
5. Cooking with my children.
6. Curling up with a good book, hot chocolate and a warm blanket.

I'm not sure how to pass this on but if you want to participate go for it!  It was fun to think about what makes me happy.

In other business, I got an award!  Edain from English, Pagan and in Canada gave me this award:
Thanks Edain!
This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in his/her effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary and personal values every day.
The rules to follow are:
1. Accept the award, post it on your blog, together with the name of the person that has granted the award and his or her blog link.
2. Pass the award to another (up to) 15 blogs that are worthy of the acknowledgement.  Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Wow!  I think all of you are excellent at transmitting your values every day!  But there are a few that I think stand out.
Robbyn at The Back Forty
Zan Asha at Wild at Heart Farm

I'm sure there are others who deserve this.  I so hate to make calls on these things.

Thanks to Sara and Edain for brightening my day!

Seven Things Meme

Joyce at tallgrassworship has tagged me for a meme. At least this one doesn't expect me to make something. I'm much too chicken to sign up for those.

Here are the rules:

Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.

Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog - some random, some weird.

Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog

Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here goes:
1. My first career was as an archaeologist. It was great fun: I traveled all around the state, sleeping in crummy motels, eating bad food but having the opportunity to work with wonderful people and be outside all day playing in the dirt- and get paid for it!

2. I HATE malted milk balls. I never thought I would say that about anything that is covered with chocolate, but there it is. I think it's a texture thing. It's like eating chocolate covered chalk. The only other things I don't eat are hot dogs or bologna. Again, a texture thing- they're too slimy. Other than those 3 things- I'm game for just about anything.

3. My college roommate introduced my husband and I. But first, she warned me about what a horrible person he was.

4. I have been to 49 out of 50 states. Somehow, I have always managed to miss Louisiana. I'm going to have to make a point of going there sometime.

5. I  got lost in the woods with the pastor's son when we were 7 or 8.  We were out hunting mushrooms and got separated from the adults.  We eventually found our way back to civilization by following the sound of cows mooing.  I knew that one our our neighbors had cows and it would lead us close to home.

6. I have 3 out of 4 of my wisdom teeth (the other was missing). See, I knew I had a big mouth!!

7. Ok, I mentioned this one on Joyce's site. But, I sort and eat my M&M's (and anything else small and colorful) by color before I eat them. And I always eat the colors in the same order. Yellow is always first and red or purple (depending on the candy) is last. I've done this since I was little.

And now, on to the tags.  I realize that not everyone likes participating in memes.  If you don't want to play along, I'm not offended. So now, in no particular order, I tag
Hickchick at A Small Life
LisaZ at The Zahn Zone

I've been tagged! Green Meme #2

Mon at Global Homestead has tagged me!  Green Meme #2.  Wow, I've never been tagged before but here we go.

Guidelines:
1) Link back to Green Meme Bloggers. (use image if you like)
2) Link back to whoever tagged you (no need to wait to be tagged!)
3) Include meme number
4) Include these guidelines in your post
5) Tag 3 other green bloggers.

Green Meme #2
1. Do you use baking soda toothpaste or baking soda shampoo?  If not, would you consider it?
I've used baking soda for toothpaste before both in toothpaste and 'straight up'.  I've never tried it for shampoo but I've heard it's hard on the hair and mine tends to be pretty dry anyway.
2. Do you make any home cleaning products?
Oh yeah,  We use lots of vinegar and baking soda.  We even discovered, when the children were young, that a mix of water, vinegar and a bit of soap actually cleans crayon marks off walls better than the commercial cleaners.
3. What is your top green issue at the moment?
Probably local foods.  I've been trying to be more conscious of where our food comes from and how many miles it has traveled to make it to our plates.
4. Given unlimited cash, what is on your fantasy green wishlist?
Oh,  the acreage with the dream house would be top of the list.  Passive solar, with a wood stove and a fireplace that I can cook in- with a bake oven.  And a root cellar and some wind turbines up on the hill....
5.  Have you implemented any new green act/behaviour/product this month?
Hmm, not really recently, although I did manage to finally get our new rain barrel emptied before it completely froze.

I am planning to tag Stephany at Naturally Simple, Matriarchy at Ramping Up the Garden and Gina at Cauldron Ridge Farm.
