Apples!!!

My first three apple trees arrived this afternoon. I will pick up the other two tomorrow morning at the orchard where he is doing a mini-class on proper planting and care of young trees. I am beyond excited. We will plant them all tomorrow afternoon. I have staked out the places where they will go and V has approved the sites.
We have also picked out a smallish rototiller of our own that is on sale at a local farm store (NOT a big box home improvement store). V and I looked at it this afternoon after he picked me up from work. We would have gotten it this afternoon but we had the car rather than the van. They also have a dump cart for the garden tractor that we would like to get to haul stuff around the property. We'll see about that tomorrow.
I'm hoping to get the garden worked up tomorrow afternoon so I can get my early stuff planted this weekend. Oh!!!! To get working in the garden- heaven!
In looking at reviews of the tiller we are looking at I came across a quote by Margaret Atwood that I fell in love with: "In Spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt." I love that!
I'm going to be busy this weekend- have fun playing in the dirt!

  1. Congrats! I had my little Colonnade Apple trees in pots last year, but they got their permanent home in the ground yesterday! And this year, APPLE BLOSSOMS, YAY! I'm so excited to see what we get and how yours do - so exciting to get food from a tree that is pretty anyways!
