Strange and mutant things are growing

First the mutant:
Is this really a zinnia???
And now for the strange:
Can you see it?
It's very tiny and it blends into the soil. My first Black Pearl Pepper is up. This should be fun to watch. Even the cotyledons are very dark. This hot pepper is supposed to have black foliage and fruit (until it ripens to a bright red) and reportedly is about as hot as a cayenne. FUN! They are open pollenated so if they do well I'll share seeds next year. I'll let you know how it progresses.

  1. LOL, it is hard to tell what they are when they're so tiny! lol Probably won't be to long and they'll be 2 inches tall! I'll be curious to watch the black peppers. I've never heard of them before. The foliage sounds pretty. I'm not one much for hot things. MILD thing yes! I'm such a panty~waste, when it comes to hot things. Have a good weekend...debbie

  2. OK -- that doesn't look like a zinnia, Judy!!! What variety is it?

Pepper looks perfect! I'll have to try some of those. I do like it hot!

  3. Clink- it's a Zahara Starlight Rose zinnia. The others I planted look fine- this one... it must have been hit by a cosmic ray or something. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

  5. Your zinnia looks better than mine! Mine are all leggy, even under the lights! Next year I'll just direct seed since they seemed to sprout about 6 hours after being put into pots, lol!
