This cake is NOT a lie!

I did something today that I've never done before!
I made an Angel Food Cake from scratch!!  A full dozen egg whites went into this baby!  And with all the yolks I made a chocolate custard/mousse.  Since it is a hybrid thing, V is calling it a Chocolate Elk!  The Elk is still in the fridge- but this evening, we had a fabulous dessert (we very, very rarely have dessert!):
Homemade Angel Food Cake with freshly whipped cream and fresh strawberries.  Absolutely heavenly!!

  1. I have made a citrus angel food cake like that, same thing, it's delish! I usually do it in the summer, when we have lots of eggs :) It lasts about a day!

    1. Lets just say that the children kept snacking on the cake after dessert. There is only about a quarter of it left now. But- there are worse things to eat then Angel Food!

  2. OMG, I am totally impressed and also drooling. Thank God calories can't be transmitted over the internet or I'd have put on 5 pounds just looking at the pictures!

    1. Actually, Angel Food is one of the lower calorie cakes out there- and it's fat free. The whipped cream, on the other hand, kind of blows it calorie-wise. But it was awfully yummy!!

    1. The mousse is so rich I think it will be eaten in small quantities... hopefully by the children- I certainly don't need another rich dessert!

  4. Look at you go with that tube pan, my nemesis! LOL... congrats on that beautiful cake, I can eat an entire plain angel food cake in about 8 minutes, I've done it. I'm not a good guest that way :)

    1. Oh, the children often have ice cream for a snack later in the evening but we do rarely have dessert after dinner. Not that I don't like dessert, I just rarely bother to make anything.
