Some things...

Some things you don't think about when you live your dream.  I heard some news today that made me sad.
Acoustic Farms, local makers of fabulous cheeses- and arguably the best cheese curds in the world- has gone out of business- a victim of their own success.  (you can listen to the interview on Iowa Public Radio HERE).  The dream of being micro cheese producers was so successful that they didn't have time for life anymore so they stopped.  How sad.  No more creamy, Jersey cheese curds with fresh tomatoes and basil in the summer...  sigh......

  1. Sadly, for a small business to be a success, you truly do have to dedicate your life to it. And sometimes, that's just not worth it.

  2. Mama Pea- I guess it all depends on your priorities. For some, it is the success, for some, it is life. Still, I'm sad to see them go.

  3. It's sad but I guess I understand it. I wouldn't want ANYTHING taking over my life completely. It's all about "balance".

    Yes-Mama Pea---EVEN the good stuff!

I do have SOME self control-just not MUCH!

  4. Although I would have to argue that Ellsworth Cheese Curds by my parents' house are best (the BIRTHPLACE of curds!), to hear of any creamery or cheese making wonder going out of business makes me very sad :(
