Oops

Oh no!!!  I just got a shipping notice.  My strawberry plants are on the way already.  Ack!  They initially said they wouldn't be shipped until late April.  Now I really hope we can close sooner than the 30th.  I'm guessing I'll be putting them in flats in the backyard and hope for the best until I can actually get them in the ground at the new place.  I just hope they don't freeze on the way.  We're expecting a snowstorm tonight and tomorrow and then lows into the low 20s early next week.

  1. Oh no! Hope they get to you ok. Sounds like you have a never ending winter like we do. Doesn't the weatherman realize it is Spring?? lol

  2. Eeeek!! Hopefully they won't get stuck someplace where it's below zero. When do you get warm weather there anyway! Will they replace them if they come frozen?! Another snow...yuck...I think we are supposed to get some snow flurries next week and it's been in the 50's-70's here - Good luck!!...debbie

  3. Hopefully they will be okay. They should be shipped dormant, and should hold just fine.
Gurneys sent my potatoes. The ground is full of snow, and frozen solid. I'll get RIGHT ON IT with planting!!! LOL

  4. Ack! My strawberry and blueberry plants arrived yesterday and, like you, I was totally unprepared for their arrival - talk about a mad dash to be made this morning to get a place to put them in even temporarily into some soil. Why so early, I have no idea. But for you, in the 20s, ooof. I'm thinking good thoughts for those plants! I'm sure they'll be okay though, you're getting into the new house soon and temp flats will make it easier all around.... that's where mine are going too, so we can hope together :-)

  5. We just got our strawberries a few days ago - it shouldn't have been a surprise, but we didn't do a very good job of planning for them and now it's supposed to snow today. Mine are wrapped in plastic in the fridge - I'm hoping the snow will melt quickly this time around!

  6. You can put them in the fridge for a couple weeks and they should stay dormant - I did that with my 100 plants a year or so ago and they were fine 3 weeks later.....
