I love Craigslist!!

I made a fabulous craigslist score today!  I'm so excited by this one.
An Atlas hand crank pasta machine (with the 'pasta bike') and... the ravioli attachment!!  All for $40!!
Years ago, we had an atlas machine.  In fact, I think I still have the manual around somewhere.  We made the mistake of lending it out to someone who never returned it and then adamantly denied that we had ever let them have it (needless to say, we don't hang out with them anymore).  I've been using the pasta rollers that go with my stand mixer but I'm happy to have the hand crank version again.  But what excites me even more is the ravioli attachment.
Isn't it beautiful?  I can hardly wait to use it.

Guess what's for dinner this evening.....

And while we were out, we stopped at Earl May- one of the local garden centers.  I needed some rooting hormone powder to try to salvage my forsythia bush that V backed over with the lawn tractor :( and some aluminum stuff for the blueberries.  While we were there, J17 picked up a job application since they are hiring. At least with this one, she does have experience both with plants and sales, having worked with Nan at Wapsi-no-noc Gardens last summer.  But if she gets hired on that could be very dangerous for me.....  a family member with an employee discount at a garden center...... Oooooo.......

    1. I was so excited when I saw the listing. Honestly, I was half expecting it to be already gone. I was thrilled when I actually got it.

  2. Love your blog. I would love to know how you preserve chives. I have an herb garden and need help preserving them for winter.

    1. For chives, I just snip them into bits, put them into a container and freeze them. No major preps necessary.
Glad you stopped in. Come back anytime.

  3. I love ravioli but have never attempted to make it. I'm not a putzy type of cook and stuffing those little pockets (even if they do come out of the pasta maker cut to the right size) has always deterred me. You'll have to do a post on what you stuff yours with the first time.

    1. I was so excited by these, I actually took the time to make ravioli today for dinner. It was so, so tasty. There is definitely a learning curve involved but for a first try it worked pretty well. I'll put up a post later tonight or tomorrow.

    1. After I saw this posted on Craigslist, I did some checking to see how good a deal this was (even though I already kind of knew it was a great deal). There are some on e-bay but for more money plus I'd have to pay shipping.

    1. I was shocked when I saw it. Even more shocked when I actually got it. Usually when there is something I want, it has already been sold by the time I call.

  6. I bought a new hand crank Atlas pasta maker online for around $120 a few years back, also with a ravioli attachment and several different heads. We love the thing to death and almost never eat store bought pasta anymore. Once you have fresh pasta, you can't go back to the 'other' kind!

    1. We had one that I believe we bought for more than $40 that 'walked off'. This one isn't leaving my possession!

  7. Do you have any willows growing nearby? You can make a rooting hormone out of those!!

I used to work at a nursery... when we lived in a one bedroom apartment with a small balcony. It was like a jungle out there! I still have a very good relationship with the owners and can't help myself when I stop in! Good luck to you if she gets the job! LOL!
