Mad as a wet hornet!!

Ok, I'm due for a bit of a rant. So here goes.
What is wrong with people???
I got home this afternoon and I13 nonchalantly informed me that, not only did several trees get blown over at the junior high today because of the high winds, but that he was nearly hit by a car as he got off the bus this afternoon. Now, I was a bit puzzled at first. The bus drops him off at the end of our driveway, on this side of the road. Apparently, this person was either so impatient or so distracted that they couldn't stop for a stopped school bus, lights flashing and the doors open. This driver drove around the school bus ON THE SHOULDER barely missing the doors. Thank every God out there and all the lucky stars and everything else I can think of that I13 was still on the bus steps. He said he could have stuck out his foot and kicked the car door as it went by.
It terrifies me what could have been if he had been just a few steps further.
Fortunately, he says that his bus driver was able to get the license number of the car. I hope that driver PAYS! I'm ANGRY that some people are so careless and/or thoughtless to take the lives of other peoples children into their hands. GRRRRR.
End of rant. We will now resume regular programming.

  1. People are all in such a rush nowadays. It's all about them...and unfortunately, it could have been a tragedy. I'm glad he's okay, and hope they find (and stop!) that driver.

  2. I'd be ranting, too! I once ran the red lights of a school bus by accident (and felt absolutely horrible), but that definitely can't be mistaken for an accident! I'm amazed at the stupid things people do just because they are in a hurry. So glad your son is okay!!

  3. I am glad to hear that God was protecting him...A Highway trooper will be visiting that person real soon... The reason why I knew that is because my son went by a school bus flashing lights because he was on the cell phone...Let me tell you when the trooper showed up at our door explaining why he was there, I thank the officer and bus driver for letting me know.. my son paid a hefty fine and he got a ear full from me ...if he was caught on the phone ever again the car was to be taken away..NOT the phone but the wheels of transportation..The ticket went to me because the car was in my name...I did not drive the car at all and my son paid the ticket.. I trully believe they need to make any type of cell phone usuage while driving illegal...I am so glad he is alright..Lisa

  5. Phew! So glad he's ok. I'm convinced there is something in the air that's making people do insanely stupid things while driving recently. (More than usual.)

  7. OMG!! That is unbelievable! He passed on the shoulder of the road! That would make me extremely mad too!! I would have called the police and told them the Bus driver got the plate number and you wanted them arrested! Thank goodness he was on the steps of the bus!! That is just too close for words! He must have been on drugs or something...am glad your son is ok...that is a scary thought! ...debbie

  8. I live in a school zone and daily watch cars zoom through the 25 zone. Sometimes the state men are there, sometimes not. You can always tell when. I am so thankful that I13 was moving a bit 'slow' that day.
